O’Reilly Democratic consultant Robin Swanson on last night to explore a reasonably interesting question: why progressive activists tend to oppose Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign. It’s the same week as the Take Back America conference, Clinton was booed a little<\/a> during her speech, so it seems like an issue a talk show on FNC would consider. No biggie.<\/p>\n

But the transcript suggests O’Reilly was embarrassingly lost<\/a>.<\/p>\n

O’REILLY: Why do you think the far left is disenchanted with [Hillary Clinton]? Why?<\/p>\n

SWANSON: Well, I think that she has put herself in a position to explain a little too much in terms of her past votes. And I think John Edwards, by apologizing [for his Iraq war vote in 2002], has been able to move on a little bit easier than Hillary has.<\/p>\n

O’REILLY: OK, so then I don’t understand.<\/p>\n

SWANSON: Elections are always about the future.<\/p>\n

O’REILLY: Maybe you want to think about that. I don’t understand what you’re saying.<\/p>\n

SWANSON: OK, well.<\/p>\n

O’REILLY: I don’t know what you’re saying.<\/p>\n

SWANSON: It’s always easier.<\/p>\n

O’REILLY: I’ll put the question.<\/p>\n

SWANSON: Can I finish, though?<\/p>\n

O’REILLY: No.<\/p>\n

SWANSON: Can I finish?<\/p>\n

O’REILLY: No, I gave you two shots at it. I gave you two shots at it. I don’t know what you’re talking about… With all due respect to you, and I appreciate you coming on, I don’t know what you’re talking about.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

At which point, O’Reilly — you guessed it — cut her mic<\/a>.<\/p>\n
