{"id":1140,"date":"2004-01-27T10:22:35","date_gmt":"2004-01-27T15:22:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thecarpetbaggerreport.com\/archives\/1140.html"},"modified":"2004-01-27T10:22:35","modified_gmt":"2004-01-27T15:22:35","slug":"off-to-a-good-start","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stevebenen.com\/thecarpetbaggerreport\/off-to-a-good-start\/","title":{"rendered":"Off to a good start?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The New Hampshire primary officially got underway shortly after midnight, early this morning, when residents in two <i>extremely<\/i> tiny towns &#8212; Dixville Notch and Hart&#8217;s Location &#8212; cast their votes.<\/p>\n<p>Oddly enough, neither community has any registered Democrats, but since independents can vote in New Hampshire primaries, residents can cast ballots for the Dems.<\/p>\n<p>While I fully appreciate that this doesn&#8217;t mean much, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.clark04.com\/story\/93\/\">Wesley Clark won close victories<\/a> in both communities.<\/p>\n<p>Dixville Notch<\/p>\n<p>Clark &#8212; 8 votes<br \/>\nKerry &#8212; 3<br \/>\nEdwards &#8212; 2<br \/>\nDean &#8212; 1<br \/>\nLieberman &#8212; 1<\/p>\n<p>Hart&#8217;s Location<br \/>\nClark &#8212; 6 votes<br \/>\nKerry &#8212; 5<br \/>\nDean &#8212; 3<br \/>\nEdwards &#8212; 2<\/p>\n<p>These aren&#8217;t percentages, of course, these are <i>actual votes<\/i>. The population of Dixville Notch is 33 people, only 16 of whom are eligible to vote in the Dem primary. In Hart&#8217;s Location, the population is 39 people, only 19 of whom are eligible.<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, Clark won in both towns, due in large part to the fact that he was the only candidate to appear in both communities, ending a 10-county tour yesterday in Dixville Notch.<\/p>\n<p>A sign of things to come for Clark today?
