It wasn’t long ago — say, a month ago? — that the race for the Democratic nomination looked very exciting. Four or five people had a realistic shot. Now, however, it’s over and it’s time for the party rally behind the nominee so we can win this thing and get Bush out of office.<\/p>\n
I had been hoping for a prolonged nomination fight that would keep our guys in the public spotlight and generate attention for the broader Dem agenda. Alas, the race for the nomination has become rather dull.<\/p>\n
Kerry’s victories yesterday in Virginia and Tennessee should put to rest any lingering doubts. Not only has Kerry won 12 of the 14 contests so far, he’s now won — by wide margins — in every region and with every Democratic demographic.<\/p>\n
There’s a word to describe someone who does all of this; it’s “nominee<\/i>.”<\/p>\n

Tennessee<\/b> (with 98% of the precincts reporting)<\/p>\n
Kerry — 41% (31 delegates)
\nEdwards — 26% (20 delegates)
\nClark — 23% (18 delegates)
\nDean — 4% (0 delegates)<\/p>\n
Virginia<\/b> (with 100% reporting)<\/p>\n
Kerry — 52% (54 delegates)
\nEdwards — 27% (28 delegates)
\nClark — 9% (0 delegates)
