{"id":1583,"date":"2004-04-14T11:40:18","date_gmt":"2004-04-14T16:40:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thecarpetbaggerreport.com\/archives\/1583.html"},"modified":"2004-04-14T11:40:18","modified_gmt":"2004-04-14T16:40:18","slug":"inexcusably-stupid","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stevebenen.com\/thecarpetbaggerreport\/inexcusably-stupid\/","title":{"rendered":"Inexcusably stupid"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I can appreciate that Democrats at the grassroots level can sometimes get upset with the Bush administration and its agenda, but there&#8217;s no excuse for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/articles\/A9298-2004Apr13.html\">this kind of insanity<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Florida Republicans cried foul over a newspaper ad by a local Democratic club that said Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld should be &#8220;put up against a wall&#8221; and someone should &#8220;pull the trigger.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The ad by the St. Petersburg Democratic Club in a weekly paper in nearby Gulfport criticized the Bush administration&#8217;s handling of the Iraq war before singling out Rumsfeld.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;And then there&#8217;s Rumsfeld who said of Iraq &#8216;We have our good days and our bad days.&#8217; We should put this S.O.B. up against a wall and say &#8216;This is one of our bad days,&#8217; and pull the trigger,&#8221; the full-page ad said.<\/p>\n<p>The ad continued: &#8220;Do you want to salvage our country? Be a savior of our country? Then vote for John Kerry and get rid of the whole Bush Bunch!&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>For these guys to even think such nonsense is troubling, to publish it in a full-page ad is inexcusable.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nOf course, the Kerry campaign had nothing to do with this stupidity and has condemned the ad.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Mark Kornblau, a Kerry campaign spokesman, said the club was not working for the campaign and called for an apology.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is outrageous and does not in any way reflect the position of our campaign. We hope that those responsible will retract the statement,&#8221; Kornblau said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Even the county chairman of the party <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2004\/ALLPOLITICS\/04\/13\/dem.ad\/index.html\">denounced the ad<\/a> and explained that it was sponsored by a local Dem club, which is not formally tied of the official party apparatus.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Pinellas County Democratic Party Chairman Kevin Jensen told CNN that he, too, was outraged by the ad, and said party officials &#8220;don&#8217;t condone this type of stupidity.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The club, listed on the Pinellas County Democratic Party&#8217;s Web site as one of its &#8220;officially chartered&#8221; clubs, does not speak for the county party, he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>If the ad&#8217;s text wasn&#8217;t enough to show you how dumb these activists are, consider this tidbit:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The ad listed phone numbers for the club&#8217;s president and vice president.
