I’d much prefer a scenario in which Nader’s name wasn’t on any state’s ballot. That said, there’s something amusing to me about the fact that Nader is poised<\/a> to be on Illinois’ ballot, but Bush isn’t.<\/p>\n

[Nader’s] campaign turned in about 40,000 signatures on Monday to get on the Illinois ballot, more than the required 25,000.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The incumbent president is having a little more trouble<\/a>.<\/p>\n

President Bush is still not on the ballot in Illinois because the General Assembly has failed to correct a snafu in state law — increasing the chance the federal courts will have to step in. <\/p>\n

Illinois is the only place where Bush’s status is uncertain. The problem stems from the GOP’s scheduling its convention after the deadlines several states set for presidential candidates to be placed on their ballots.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
