Hart, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/articles\/A36842-2004Aug3.html\">racist\/lunatic running<\/a> for the GOP nomination for Congress in Tennessee? He <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chicagotribune.com\/news\/nationworld\/chi-0408060205aug06,1,3559582.story?coll=chi-newsnationworld-hed\">won yesterday&#8217;s &#8220;primary.&#8221;<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>An unabashed racist will represent the Republican Party in the November election for a congressional seat after a write-in candidate failed to derail his effort.<\/p>\n<p>With 86 percent of the primary vote counted, write-in candidate Dennis Bertrand had just 1,554 votes compared to 7,671, or 83 percent, for James Hart, a believer in the discredited science of eugenics.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I give the local GOP some credit for trying to launch a last-minute effort to stop this guy, but one has to wonder if the Republican primary voters in this district are either shockingly uninformed (which is certainly possible) or so hate-filled that they actually want this madman representing their community on Congress.<\/p>\n<p>I often lament voter sophistication, but in this case, I can only hope it&#8217;s the prior.<\/p>\n<p>Oh, and don&#8217;t worry about this schmuck actually winning; incumbent Rep. John Tanner (D) isn&#8217;t in any danger of losing this race. He&#8217;s held the seat for 15 years, having beaten plenty of normal candidates by wide margins. He won&#8217;t have any trouble crushing Hart in November. <\/p>\n<p>The more interersting question is whether the Dem will be endorsed by the local Republican Party.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Remember James L.
