{"id":2429,"date":"2004-08-30T10:29:29","date_gmt":"2004-08-30T15:29:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thecarpetbaggerreport.com\/archives\/2429.html"},"modified":"2004-08-30T10:29:29","modified_gmt":"2004-08-30T15:29:29","slug":"giuliani-beats-up-a-straw-man","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stevebenen.com\/thecarpetbaggerreport\/giuliani-beats-up-a-straw-man\/","title":{"rendered":"Giuliani beats up a straw man"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There weren&#8217;t any major surprises from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.msnbc.msn.com\/id\/5858461\/\">Rudy Giuliani&#8217;s appearance<\/a> on the Meet the Press yesterday, but the former NYC mayor did offer one bizarre comment that stood out.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;As people criticized [Bush], ridiculed him, did everything they could to get him off his agenda [of destroying global terrorism], he&#8217;s remained with it and it&#8217;s made the world safer and we have to continue in that direction in the next three or four years.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>While I&#8217;d certainly disagree with the notion that Bush has made the world safer &#8212; just the opposite appears to be true &#8212; I have no idea who Giuliani is referring to in the first part.<\/p>\n<p>Is there anyone, anywhere who &#8220;criticized and ridiculed&#8221; Bush to get him away from an anti-terrorist agenda? I can&#8217;t think of any.
