In case you missed it, there was a classic exchange on Wednesday during a “townhall” meeting<\/a> with Dick Cheney in New Hampshire.<\/p>\n

Q: Good afternoon, Mr. Cheney, and, Lynne. Thank you for coming. My question is related to President Bush’s proposal to overhaul the tax system. Do you have any details on what he has in mind for that and how he’s going to simplify the current IRS code? <\/p>\n

Vice President: No, there are no proposals yet. There’s the desire.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Feel better? The White House has radically shifted the tax burden in this country away from the wealthy and onto the middle class<\/a>. The results of their tax policies include rising poverty, anemic economic growth, and the largest deficits in the history of the world.<\/p>\n

Bush and Cheney are anxious to get another four years so they can make more<\/i> changes to the tax code, including simplifying it. But they won’t tell us how, only that there’s a “desire” to make things better. We should just take Cheney’s word for it.<\/p>\n

They also apparently have a “desire” to create jobs, fight terrorism, and improve education. No plans, of course, just “desires.” My confidence in the administration is boosted, how about yours?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
