{"id":2579,"date":"2004-09-21T13:31:09","date_gmt":"2004-09-21T18:31:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thecarpetbaggerreport.com\/archives\/2579.html"},"modified":"2004-09-21T13:31:09","modified_gmt":"2004-09-21T18:31:09","slug":"maybe-it-has-something-to-do-with-republicans-in-texas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stevebenen.com\/thecarpetbaggerreport\/maybe-it-has-something-to-do-with-republicans-in-texas\/","title":{"rendered":"Maybe it has something to do with Republicans in Texas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of the biggest, most contentious House races in the country this year is in Texas, pitting two well-known incumbents against one another, thanks to Tom DeLay&#8217;s outrageous re-redistricting scheme &#8212; Pete Sessions (R) vs. Martin Frost (D).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rollcall.com\/issues\/50_30\/hoh\/6829-1.html\">Roll Call noted<\/a> yesterday that the two faced off in their first debate last weekend, and by all indications, Sessions didn&#8217;t exactly come across as an articulate lawmaker. Indeed, Roll Call came up with a new word to describe some of the Republican&#8217;s remarks: &#8220;Sessionisms.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Here is what Sessions said, which, beware, is very difficult to follow:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I believe the opportunity to be before the World Affairs Council, who have a very serious outlook on the world, that what we should discuss tonight are the issues and those opportunities that lay ahead of America, and certainly us here in Dallas on a moving forward basis as we approach the world with world affairs.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It prompted the Frost campaign to issue a press release reprinting Sessions&#8217; opening remarks and comparing them to Frost&#8217;s. &#8220;Decide for yourself who has a clear, articulate vision on the key issues facing our country today,&#8221; Frost said.<\/p>\n<p>Sounds to me like Sessions has been attending the George W.
