In recent months, that includes <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/articles\/A10047-2004Aug18.html\">Kerry t-shirts<\/a>, a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.record-eagle.com\/2004\/aug\/17mead.htm\">Kerry sticker<\/a> on your lapel, and even generic t-shirts expressing support for &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bend.com\/news\/ar_view^3Far_id^3D18712.htm\">civil liberties<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>But these are private rallies hosted by the campaign. What about presidential appearances <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/articles\/A446-2004Oct26.html\">at a public school<\/a>?<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>President Bush finally stopped in Cuba City [Wis.] on Tuesday, five months after he zoomed through town without stopping, creating an opportunity for John F. Kerry and a stir in the City of Presidents, as this little town has called itself for nearly three decades.<\/p>\n<p>[&#8230;]<\/p>\n<p>Bush&#8217;s rally in the school gym featured his stump speech. The kids were told that if they wore a Kerry button or made any rude interventions, they would be in big trouble. No one did.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>So, students at a public school can&#8217;t wear a button for the president&#8217;s rival without facing punishment? Are Bush&#8217;s sensibilities so delicate that he needs to be protected from a small blue circle, seen from 50 yards away?
