In a story that belongs in the “too scary to think about” category, Fox News Channel’s Bill O’Reilly mentioned on the air yesterday that he’d consider being a political candidate<\/a> someday in the future. <\/p>\n

Appearing on his own network’s morning program called “Fox and Friends,” O’Reilly said that “maybe someday down the road” he’ll run for public office. He reiterated, however, that he’s a “registered independent.”<\/p>\n

An apparent drawback for the talk-show host is political fundraising. O’Reilly said “you need a lot of money” to run for office and he dislikes that component of campaigning.<\/p>\n

If that’s the only thing stopping him, we’re all in a lot of trouble. After all, O’Reilly has<\/i> a lot of money — Fox News pays him a pretty penny, plus he has a lucrative radio program and a cult following who buys his vapid books.<\/p>\n

In fact, no matter what office he ran for, O’Reilly would have to take a significant pay cut. One can only hope this might dissuade him.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
