Regular readers know that The Carpetbagger Report is a member of the Coalition for Darfur<\/a>, a bi-partisan online initiative created to raise awareness and resources to address the crisis. The Coalition did not produce a post this week, but instead is focusing attention on the work of Smith College Professor Eric Reeves, who has written a series for The New Republic this week designed to be a “weeklong crash-course on Darfur.” It’s definitely worth reading.<\/p>\n

* Part 1<\/a> — Why the genocide started, how it is being carried out, and whether it is getting worse<\/p>\n

* Part 2<\/a> — What motivates the Sudanese government (racism, Islamism); and whether we should call Darfur a genocide (we should)<\/p>\n

* Part 3<\/a> — The current mechanics of human destruction in Darfur; the controversy over mortality totals; and Darfur’s future in the absence of intervention<\/p>\n

* Part 4<\/a> — The feckless international response<\/p>\n

* Part 5<\/a> — What should be done (Part 5 will be posted in a few hours)<\/p>\n
