For months, Springer has been mulling over a challenge to incumbent Sen. George Voinovich (R) and leading many to believe he would announce his candidacy soon.<\/p>\n<p>Today, however, Springer ended the suspense and said he would not be a candidate.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As long as I&#8217;m still doing the show, my message &#8212; no matter how sincere or how heartfelt &#8212; simply doesn&#8217;t reach,&#8221; Springer said at a news conference. &#8220;I can&#8217;t get through the clutter of the show.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Of course he can&#8217;t cut through the clutter of the show. His name became synonymous with the worst TV had to offer. Springer&#8217;s &#8220;program&#8221; was a choreographed freak show.
