{"id":6222,"date":"2006-01-01T14:47:56","date_gmt":"2006-01-01T19:47:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thecarpetbaggerreport.com\/?p=6222"},"modified":"2006-01-01T14:47:56","modified_gmt":"2006-01-01T19:47:56","slug":"tv-blogging","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stevebenen.com\/thecarpetbaggerreport\/tv-blogging\/","title":{"rendered":"TV blogging"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A few years ago, I was among at least 12 people who were deeply disappointed by the cancellation of Matt Groening&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/us.imdb.com\/title\/tt0149460\/\">Futurama<\/a>, yanked mercilessly from the air after just five entertaining seasons. If you were one of the 12, however, you&#8217;ll be pleased to know that there&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.smh.com.au\/news\/tv--radio\/off-the-planet\/2005\/12\/10\/1134086846734.html\">talk of a comeback<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>After better-than-expected DVD sales, Futurama may follow in Family Guy&#8217;s footsteps and make it back onto the air.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Three months ago, I would have said we were going to start tomorrow,&#8221; says writer David X. Cohen, who collaborated with Groening on Futurama. &#8220;And one month ago I would also have said we were going to start tomorrow. So &#8230;&#8221; He pauses. &#8220;My current estimate is that we&#8217;re starting tomorrow.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>On a related note, I was one of at least seven people saddened by the news that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fox.com\/arresteddev\/\">Arrested Development<\/a> was no more, but was heartened by rumors about <a href=\"http:\/\/today.reuters.com\/news\/newsArticle.aspx?type=televisionNews&#038;storyID=2005-12-14T084755Z_01_SCH431622_RTRIDST_0_TELEVISION-ARRESTED-DC.XML\">interest from another network<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Will the pay-TV environs of Showtime be a friendlier place for the Emmy-winning comedy &#8220;Arrested Development,&#8221; which just got canceled by Fox?<\/p>\n<p>Word around town this week is that Showtime is in talks to pick up the comedy about a chaotic family. Sources stressed that the talks are still exploratory and that it would be a big financial commitment on Showtime&#8217;s part to pick up the show in its current form with a large ensemble cast that includes Jason Bateman, Jeffrey Tambor, Portia de Rossi, Jessica Walter and Will Arnett.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>And as long as we&#8217;re talking about television, does anyone have any guesses as to what <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nbc.com\/The_West_Wing\/\">The West Wing<\/a> will do with the Santos campaign in light of <a href=\"http:\/\/us.imdb.com\/name\/nm0817983\/\">John Spencer&#8217;s<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.azstarnet.com\/allheadlines\/108363\">recent death<\/a>?
