Today, a Dem senator thought of a clever name for all of this.<\/p>\n<p>To be sure, congressional Republicans love to play name games with legislation. The bill to cut spending is technically called the &#8220;Deficit Reduction Act of 2005.&#8221; The bill to cut taxes is the &#8220;Tax Relief Extension Reconciliation Act of 2005.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Today, Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) unveiled an amendment to the legislation that would cut through some of the spin and actually describe what&#8217;s under consideration.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>On page 2, line 3, strike &#8220;Tax Relief Extension Reconciliation Act of 2005&#8221; and insert &#8220;More Tax Breaks for the Rich and More Debt for our Grandchildren Deficit Expansion Reconciliation Act of 2006.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Truth in advertising.
