Harold Ford, a Dem Senate candidate in Tennessee, enjoyed nice hotels and amenities, that they created a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thecarpetbaggerreport.com\/archives\/6828.html\">borderline-racist website<\/a> called &#8220;Fancy Ford.&#8221; The GOP response was that Ford&#8217;s race was irrelevant &#8212; they just wanted to mock Ford for his preference for comfortable amenities.<\/p>\n<p>With this in mind, I guess ridiculing <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/content\/article\/2006\/03\/23\/AR2006032302173.html\">Diva Dick<\/a> is fair game.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Like any big rock star, Dick Cheney needs a soothing environment after a long day on the road. Now we know just what he likes waiting in his hotel room.<\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;Vice Presidential Downtime Requirements&#8221; published yesterday on the Smoking Gun is a list of the veep&#8217;s home-away-from-home comforts provided to hotels by Cheney&#8217;s advance team. (The Web site obtained a copy from a hotel employee.) No over-the-top demands, just a few specific requests:<\/p>\n<p>* A queen- or king-size bed, desk and chair, and private bathroom.<\/p>\n<p>* All lights turned on and the temperature set at a chilly 68 degrees.<\/p>\n<p>* All televisions tuned to Fox News.<\/p>\n<p>* A fresh pot of decaf, four cans of Caffeine-Free Diet Sprite, four to six bottles of water, and (if Lynne Cheney is traveling with her husband) two bottles of Calistoga or Perrier sparkling water.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Wait, isn&#8217;t Perrier French?<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, the Fox News preference is hardly surprising.
