What could make the day a little better? How about the <a href=\"http:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Politics\/print?id=1816467\">latest [tag]poll[\/tag]ing data<\/a>?<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>President Bush&#8217;s [tag]approval ratings[\/tag] hit a series of new [tag]low[\/tag]s in an [tag]AP-Ipsos[\/tag] poll that also shows Republicans surrendering their advantage on national security grim election-year news for a party struggling to stay in power.<\/p>\n<p>[tag]Democrat[\/tag]ic leaders predicted they will seize control of one or both chambers of Congress in November. Republicans said they feared the worst unless the political landscape quickly changes.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;These numbers are scary. We&#8217;ve lost every advantage we&#8217;ve ever had,&#8221; GOP pollster Tony Fabrizio said. &#8220;The good news is Democrats don&#8217;t have much of a plan. The bad news is they may not need one.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>And this was before the public heard about the president leaks of classified information as political weapons.<\/p>\n<p>* <i>Approval rating<\/i>: Just 36% of the public approves of [tag]Bush[\/tag]&#8217;s job performance, his lowest-ever rating in AP-Ipsos polling.<\/p>\n<p>* <i>Terrorism<\/i>: Only 40% of the public approves of Bush&#8217;s performance on foreign policy and the war on [tag]terror[\/tag], another low-water mark for his presidency.<\/p>\n<p>* <i>Iraq<\/i>: Just 35% of the public approves of Bush&#8217;s handling of [tag]Iraq[\/tag], his lowest in AP-Ipsos polling.<\/p>\n<p>* <i>Congress<\/i>: Just 30 % of the public approves of the GOP-led Congress&#8217; job performance, and Republicans seem to be shouldering the blame.
