{"id":7259,"date":"2006-04-27T14:23:06","date_gmt":"2006-04-27T18:23:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thecarpetbaggerreport.com\/?p=7259"},"modified":"2006-04-27T14:23:06","modified_gmt":"2006-04-27T18:23:06","slug":"the-chairman-of-the-senate-cover-up-committee-strikes-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stevebenen.com\/thecarpetbaggerreport\/the-chairman-of-the-senate-cover-up-committee-strikes-again\/","title":{"rendered":"The chairman of the Senate Cover-up Committee strikes again"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In February, a New York Times editorial <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2006\/02\/17\/opinion\/17fri1.html?ex=1297832400&#038;en=54b341fe97a5dd5a&#038;ei=5090&#038;partner=rssuserland&#038;emc=rss\">asked<\/a> rhetorically, &#8220;Is there any aspect of President [tag]Bush[\/tag]&#8217;s miserable record on intelligence that Senator [tag]Pat Roberts[\/tag], chairman of the [tag]Senate Intelligence Committee[\/tag], is not willing to excuse and help to [tag]cover up[\/tag]?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>For anyone who&#8217;s been paying attention, the answer was pretty obvious, but just in case, Roberts is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rawstory.com\/news\/2006\/Senate_Intelligence_Committee_Chairman_denies_access_0427.html\">driving the point home<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence has denied [tag]Democrat[\/tag]ic attempts to interview Secretary of State [tag]Condoleezza Rice[\/tag], former CIA Director [tag]George Tenet[\/tag] and two former senior aides to erstwhile Secretary of State Colin Powell, RAW STORY has learned.<\/p>\n<p>Intelligence Vice Chairman Jay Rockefeller (D-WV) sought to interview Rice, Tenet and Powell&#8217;s aides as part of a Senate inquiry into whether public statements by Administration officials about Iraq were corroborated by intelligence information.
