I know it’s the biggest political story of the season, but I’m afraid I don’t have a lot to say about Arnold Schwarzenegger’s victory<\/a> in California yesterday.<\/p>\n

I’m disappointed by the results, have trouble comprehending Schwarzenegger’s appeal, and find it hard to believe that he’ll have any success as the chief executive of the nation’s largest state.<\/p>\n

In fact, though I certainly don’t know Schwarzenegger personally, I don’t imagine he’s going to like<\/i> his new career. He’s taking a huge pay cut to begin a thankless job that requires an enormous amount of difficult work.<\/p>\n

I’m particularly anxious to see how he’ll eliminate an $8 billion state deficit while fulfilling campaign promises of cutting taxes (such as California’s car tax) and raising spending (on issues such as education and state infrastructure.)<\/p>\n

Of course, I’m certain Schwarzenegger’s critics will soon be circulating their own recall petition, meaning that California can look forward to possibly enduring this exact same process again sometime next year.<\/p>\n

All of this is excellent news for my original home state of Florida. It’s finally been forgotten as the nation’s most embarrassing state.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
