They may be with you for the first few bullets but they won&#8217;t be there for the last tough battles.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I think the Senate Majority Project, a Dem enterprise, had the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.senatemajority.com\/node\/381\">appropriate response<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Rove, of course, never served in battle, dodging the draft for nearly three years of the Vietnam War. He&#8217;s in good company, though &#8212; the Vice President received five deferments from going into battle himself.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Unfortunately for the American military, Dick Cheney, Karl Rove and their merry band of draft-dodgers won&#8217;t be with you for the first few bullets, the last tough battles, or anywhere along the way,&#8221; said Christy Setzer, Communications Director, Senate Majority Project.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>For the record, Karl &#8220;there for the last tough battles&#8221; [tag]Rove[\/tag] used student [tag]deferments[\/tag] <a href=\"http:\/\/www.senatemajority.com\/node\/381\">for three years<\/a> at the height of the [tag]Vietnam[\/tag] War &#8212; including a period where he claimed a student deferment even though he had dropped out of school.<\/p>\n<p>[tag]Kerry[\/tag] and [tag]Murtha[\/tag], meanwhile, are decorated war heroes who a) can recognize a disastrous war when they see one; and b) deserve better than to be smeared by a corrupt hack like Rove.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Shortly after learning he won&#8217;t face criminal charges, [tag]Karl Rove[\/tag] went back to doing exactly what he does best: smearing [tag]war[\/tag] [tag]heroes[\/tag].
