[tag]Tim Ryan[\/tag] (D) was receiving encouragement to run for the Senate in Ohio against Mike DeWine (R) this year. It struck me as a little odd &#8212; not only does Ohio have other, higher-profile Dems, but Ryan is also a rookie, having only been elected in 2002.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m beginning to understand the enthusiasm.<\/p>\n<p><object width=\"250\" height=\"185\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/LRFwVzbPUJ0\"><\/param><param name=\"wmode\" value=\"transparent\"><\/param><embed src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/LRFwVzbPUJ0\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" wmode=\"transparent\" width=\"250\" height=\"185\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s just today&#8217;s comments. As Sam Rosenfeld <a href=\"http:\/\/www.prospect.org\/weblog\/2006\/09\/post_1499.html#010083\">noted<\/a>, when when it comes to floor speeches,<a href=\"http:\/\/youtube.com\/watch?v=v8gANbwU5yg&amp;search=tim%20ryan\"> this<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/youtube.com\/watch?v=1dW1loqw0nI&amp;mode=related&amp;search=\">guy<\/a> is <a href=\"http:\/\/youtube.com\/watch?v=-royWii82cA\">really<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/atrios.blogspot.com\/2006_09_24_atrios_archive.html#115929168853284520\">something<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I realize Ryan is hardly the most reliably liberal member of the caucus, but maybe the party should put this guy on TV a little more often?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>About a year ago, I heard some buzz that Rep.
