It&#8217;s clear that the answer is we&#8217;re worse off with respect to the nuclear proliferation problem in both North Korea and Iran than four to six years ago, and I would argue we&#8217;re worse off in our overall security because of the situation in Iraq.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>* Did Reuters really fire an editor for writing a book critical of Ann Coulter? <a href=\"http:\/\/www.prospect.org\/horsesmouth\/2006\/10\/post_397.html#013877\">It sure looks like it<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>* Remember Rep. Randy &#8220;Duke&#8221; Cunningham? The disgraced lawmaker who was exposed as a corrupt and greedy criminal? He apparently has written <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tpmmuckraker.com\/archives\/001765.php\">a very angry letter<\/a> to the San Diego Union-Tribune, the paper which helped send him to jail.<\/p>\n<p>* Bush <a href=\"http:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/s\/ap\/20061010\/ap_on_go_pr_wh\/bush;_ylt=Ao1ND.hLLjMvoaHKzViEyPms0NUE;_ylu=X3oDMTA3OXIzMDMzBHNlYwM3MDM-\">whined today<\/a> that Dems will raise everyone&#8217;s taxes. The comments drew widespread yawns.<\/p>\n<p>* Right-wing lunatic Michael Savage <a href=\"http:\/\/mediamatters.org\/items\/200610100007\">has declared<\/a> that former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright is a &#8220;traitor&#8221; who &#8220;should be tried for treason, and when she&#8217;s found guilty, she should be hung.&#8221; Because this is fairly routine rhetoric for conservative talk-show hosts, there will be no consequences.<\/p>\n<p>* Speaking of conservative talk-show hosts, Bill O&#8217;Reilly thinks the Foley scandal is much ado about nothing. He thinks, however, that it&#8217;s better to start talking about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.crooksandliars.com\/2006\/10\/10\/bill-oreillys-most-important-news-of-the-day\/\">celebrity abortions<\/a>.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\n* If you haven&#8217;t seen Sherrod Brown&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/sherrodbrown.com\/pages\/empty_chair\">new campaign ad<\/a> in Ohio, you should definitely take a look.<\/p>\n<p>* Rick Santorum believes that anything that happens, anywhere, is proof of how we need to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.post-gazette.com\/pg\/06283\/728749-82.stm\">go to war against Iran<\/a>. (thanks to Rege for the heads-up on this one)<\/p>\n<p>* Former House clerk Jeff Trandahl will spill the beans tomorrow, telling the House Ethics Committee what he knows about the Foley scandal.
