I also noted the irony of him bragging about bringing this right to Iraq, despite the fact that Iraqis have been arrested by U.S. troops <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reuters.co.uk\/newsPackageArticle.jhtml?type=topNews&#038;storyID=401926&#038;section=news\">for criticizing our occupation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On a similar note, I thought I&#8217;d mention an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rockymountainnews.com\/drmn\/news_columnists\/article\/0,1299,DRMN_86_2455047,00.html\">excellent, must-read column<\/a> from the Rocky Mountain News&#8217; Mike Littwin (which I saw <a href=\"http:\/\/atrios.blogspot.com\/2003_11_23_atrios_archive.html#106979792932260883\">via Atrios<\/a>), who noticed an unusual policy in place for President Bush&#8217;s visit to Fort Carlson in Colorado Springs this week.<\/p>\n<p><i>Before the press was herded into the giant hangar in advance of George W. Bush&#8217;s pep rally\/photo op with the Fort Carson troops, we were given the rules.<\/p>\n<p>No talking to the troops before the rally.<\/p>\n<p>No talking to the troops during the rally.<\/p>\n<p>No talking to the troops after the rally.<\/p>\n<p>In other words, if I&#8217;ve done the math right, that means no conversation at all &#8212; at least, while on base &#8212; with any soldiers.
