She gave out the number on the air this morning and urged listeners to bombard the line. They did. Conservatives are a classy bunch.

* Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R), who is facing re-election today, announced his belief that non-Christians are going “straight to hell with a nonstop ticket.” Asked to elaborate a bit, Perry said it’s in his “faith, that’s what it says, and I’m a believer of that.” Any chance this might have an effect on his election chances?

* Honestly, we’ve reached a point in which right-wing fat-cats are running TV ads with Dem candidates’ home phone numbers? One of these days, grown-ups will be in charge again; I just hope it’s sooner rather than later.

* Sen. Conrad Burns (R-Mont.), who will hopefully lose tonight, lashed out at a local newspaper, the Great Falls Tribune, for reporting on the results of a Gallup poll. In fact, Burns pulled the Tribune’s press credentials, despite the fact that the paper didn’t even commission the poll, because Burns found the Tribune to be “irresponsible” for even mentioning it. The campaign later backed down and reinstated the credentials.

* Watch Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-Ohio) try to use a vote-scanning machine. I can’t decide if it’s funny or depressing.

* Did MSNBC seriously hire Ben Ginsberg to be its resident lawyer for its Election Day coverage? Ginsberg, of course, is best known for his legal work on behalf of the Swiftboat Liars and Bush’s 2000 recount fiasco in Florida. Your “liberal media” at work.

* The RNC does seem unusually touchy about exit polls this afternoon….

* On a related note, Rich Lowry has far better GOP sources than I do, and he sounds a little depressed.

* Investors seem to be looking forward to a Democratic, and fiscally sane, Congress.

* Bob Novak said Republicans’ “handling of key issues…displayed incompetence.” It’s not much, but for Novak, a little reality is progress.

* And, finally, why must the New York Times’ movie blogger torment me so? (thanks N.R.)

Remember, this isn’t an end-of-the-day post, just some quick hits.
