{"id":8992,"date":"2006-11-07T18:54:13","date_gmt":"2006-11-07T23:54:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thecarpetbaggerreport.com\/archives\/8992.html"},"modified":"2006-11-07T18:54:13","modified_gmt":"2006-11-07T23:54:13","slug":"if-you-were-really-curious","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stevebenen.com\/thecarpetbaggerreport\/if-you-were-really-curious\/","title":{"rendered":"If you were really curious&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After 2004, getting excited about exit-poll results seems incredibly foolish, but I know there&#8217;s considerable interest, so here&#8217;s some of the not-so-secret data.<\/p>\n<p>When asked which issues were more important in voting, 62% said national issues, 33% said local.<\/p>\n<p>In a surprise, asked which specific issues were the most important, corruption was the most common response with 42%, followed by terrorism at 40%, the economy at 39%, and the war in Iraq at 37%.<\/p>\n<p>On a related note, 57% said they disapprove of the war, 41% said they approve.<\/p>\n<p>As for Senate candidates:<\/p>\n<p>Democrats leading:<\/p>\n<p>Virginia          (52-47)<br \/>\nRhode Island  (53-46)<br \/>\nPennsylvania  (57-42)<br \/>\nOhio               (57-43)<br \/>\nNew Jersey     (52-45)<br \/>\nMontana         (53-46)<br \/>\nMissouri         (50-48)<br \/>\nMaryland        (53-46)<\/p>\n<p>Republicans leading:<\/p>\n<p>Tennessee  (51-48)<br \/>\nArizona       (50-46)<\/p>\n<p>This, of course, should have &#8220;caveat emptor&#8221; written all over it. Based on exit polls, Kerry won in a landslide.
