Richard Lugar (R) will keep his seat in Indiana (Dems didn&#8217;t field a candidate).<\/p>\n<p>Sen. Robert Byrd (D) will keep his seat in West Virginia (giving him a record ninth term in the Senate).<\/p>\n<p>Virginia&#8217;s awful ban on gay marriage will apparently pass (Dahlia Lithwick had a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/content\/article\/2006\/11\/03\/AR2006110301451.html\">really good piece<\/a> on the measure recently).<\/p>\n<p>In Ohio, Rep. Ted Strickland (D) thankfully beat Ken Blackwell (R) in the gubernatorial race.<\/p>\n<p>In other random notes:<\/p>\n<p>* Exit polls showed about a third of evangelcals <a href=\"http:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/s\/ap\/20061107\/ap_on_el_ho\/eln_house\">voted for Dems<\/a>, and most white evangelicals said corruption was &#8220;very important to their vote.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>* <a href=\"http:\/\/electioncentral.tpmcafe.com\/blog\/electioncentral\/2006\/nov\/07\/va_sen_cnn_exit_polls_webb_well_ahead_among_women\">Women backed<\/a> Jim Webb in Virginia by a fairly wide margin, suggesting the Allen&#8217;s campaign&#8217;s attacks weren&#8217;t successful, at least on this front.<\/p>\n<p>* And Tom DeLay (R-Loathesome Town) is <a href=\"http:\/\/thinkprogress.org\/2006\/11\/07\/delay-make-day\/\"><em>daring<\/em><\/a> a Democratic Congress to investigate the misdeeds of the 109th Congress.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The early results look good, but we haven&#8217;t gotten to any of the really competitive stuff yet.
