The official Ralph Nader exploratory committee has, believe it or not, posted a “questionnaire”<\/a> asking people to vote on whether they’d “support a Ralph Nader candidacy for President.”<\/p>\n

At your earliest possible convenience, head over there<\/a> and register your thoughts. There’s even a little box at the end, where participants are invited to “express your opinion further.”<\/p>\n

In case you’re one of those people who may be inclined to write a profanity-laced tirade, blaming Nader for all of the Bush-caused problems in the world — you know who you are — it’d be wise to restrain yourself. The fledgling Nader campaign will likely discount your vote in the survey if they believe you hate Nader and would never consider voting for him.<\/p>\n

I should note, of course, that this survey is probably meaningless. Nader has demonstrated, on more than one occasion, that his presidential campaigns are more about him — his ego, his arrogance, his disregard for the consequences of his efforts — and, with that in mind, I’d be surprised if the results of this survey swayed him one way or the other.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, the exploratory committee went to the trouble of putting the questionnaire online and I suspect someone will eventually tally the results and tell Nader what happened. The more “no” votes, the better. At a minimum, it can’t hurt.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
