Why in the world would Bush ask that?

Bush was in Krakow, Poland, over the weekend and visited Auschwitz, only the second sitting president to see the former Nazi concentration camp.

Touring the facility with Teresa Swiebocka, senior curator of the Auschwitz Museum, Bush was clearly overwhelmed with much of what he saw, calling Auschwitz “a sobering reminder of the power of evil and the need for people to resist evil.”

Bush, however, also had a question for Swiebocka.

“Do people challenge the accuracy of what you present?” Bush asked the curator.

I know I should be used to nonsensical comments and bizarre questions from Bush, but what exactly did he mean? No serious person anywhere in the world questions the “accuracy” of what transpired at Auschwitz.

Was Bush inquiring about Swiebocka’s thoughts on perverse, anti-Semitic Holocaust deniers? Was Bush suggesting there is a legitimate controversy about the information presented at Auschwitz? I really haven’t a clue why Bush would ask such an unusual question.
