With the Frosts’ smear complete, the right gets a new target

Smearing 12-year-old Graeme Frost and his family was so last week. Are there any new targets for the far-right to attack? Catholics United, a left-leaning educational group, seems to be waving a red flag at the conservative bulls. (via DemFromCT)

Catholics United will launch a radio advertising campaign targeting ten members of Congress whose opposition to the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) have compromised their pro-life voting records.

The ads, which feature a mother urging her Congressional Representative to support SCHIP, will primarily air on Christian and talk radio stations from Monday Oct. 15 to Wednesday, Oct. 17 as Congress approaches a critical Oct. 18 vote to override President Bush’s veto of bipartisan SCHIP legislation.

The mother in the radio ad will say, “I’m the mother of three children, and I’m pro-life. I believe that protecting the lives our children must be our nation’s number one moral priority. That’s why I’m concerned that Congressman X says he’s pro-life but votes against health care for poor children. That’s not pro-life. That’s not pro-family. Tell Congressman X to vote for health care for children. Call him today at XXXX, that’s XXXXX.”

That’s a pretty good message, but I’m curious what conservatives might try to discredit this woman before people take her concerns seriously.

My friend John Cole believes the far-right smear machine will clearly want to take a closer look at the voice in the ad:

Is she really a woman?
What is her address and where can I find her house so I can drive by it?
Does she really have three kids?
Are they her kids?
Did she swap one in the hospital?
Is it possible she swapped one at the hospital?
Is she a good mother?
Is she really Catholic?
Does she go to church?
What was her last confession about?
Is she really pro-life?
Has she ever had an abortion?
Have her neighbors ever had an abortion?
Does she use birth control?
Has she ever done anything that could technically make her not Catholic? Not a good mother? Not pro-life?

And most important of all, what do her kitchen counters look like?

I can only hope that Malkin, Limbaugh, the National Review, and the rest of the smear machine realize that Cole is kidding. Please do not go after this woman.

Rabid dogs or cornered skunks – both seem accurate.

  • What’s this? A “pro-life” group that isn’t merely pro-coat-hanger? Don’t they know that as far as Republicans care, the “right to life” begins at conception and ends at birth?

    (Homage to Barney Frank.)

  • Has she ever done anything that could technically make her not Catholic? Not a good mother?

And Protestants will be decidng that, according to their own made-up standards of what disqualifies someone. Last I headr it takes Excommunication.

  • Malkin was so vile and ridiculous with her last assault that she committed social suicide. Most people don’t consider her credible on anything but now only a few on the right still look at her as if she is sane. Mark my words…she has shown herself to be so pathetic that she will now just be ignored. Now begins the cervical cancer type of health concerns bringing healthcare issues right into her lap for her personal scrutiny so she can observe her own counter tops. This was a dog she never should have kicked…getting health care coverage for your illness.

  • The members of the screed machine you mention above have no issues to stand for. Obstructionists, plain and simple. Mission one for them is shit stirring. Some enterprising young blogger should begin chronicling the shit they stir, so their shittiness can go down in history for all to see. When future generations think of any kind of shit, they’d no doubt have Malkin, Limbaugh, O’Reilly and John Gibson on their minds. And for little shitty problems, Glenn Beck’s name would do! -Kevo

  • I have some more questions and suggestions to add to Cole’s list:

Where’s the father? Do all 3 kids have the same father or three different ones? And was she married to any of them? Bet you she’s a single, teenage mother, that’s why she needs to be on the dole vis-a-vis healthcare for her kids. And, maybe she had been a Catholic once upon a time, but she’s been excommunicated long since for her sluttish behaviour.

  • And, maybe she had been a Catholic once upon a time, but she’s been excommunicated long since for her sluttish behaviour.

Oh, please. We don’t excommunicate sluts in the RCC – don’t you know anything about Catholics?

Now, if she got a divorce and remarried, well, she’d be denied communion for the rest of her life. But as long as there’s no second marriage, she’s golden – she can sleep with whoever she wants and stay in the Church!

Yes, we have a REMARKABLY pro-family theology, why do you ask?

  • What this country needs right now is a John Cole-esque assault on the Right. Start posting pictures of Coulter’s house—with street address included—all over the Internet. Do the same thing to Malkin…and Back…and O’Reilly.

Post aerial photographs of their homes, with exact latitude/longitude nubers—not just degrees, but hours/minutes/seconds. Superimpose bombsight “crosshairs” over those pictures, and label them as “aiming points.”

Tell people what their cars look like—and where they shop for groceries. Describe—in minute detail—the route they take to work every day.

For once, let the windbags of the right feel the heat of being stalked; of finding themselves under the scrutiny of the microscope. Let’s vet these scum like they’ve never been vetted before—and see if they can take it as well as they dish it out….

  • Steve, I really hope you’re kidding. While we need to stop being polite with these mouth-breathers and rub their noses in their bullshit, going to those extremes would definitely be wrong. We have to expose them for the liars and fascists they are, not subject them to stalking and death threats. Fortunately, they do all the work for us. All we need to do is just record what they say and make sure to post it for everyone to see, or play it back for everyone to hear.

What really annoys me is how liberals and democrats don’t seem to have figured out how to do that, even though it is just so simple. Mr. Macaca losing the election in Virginia is the perfect example of what the left-wing needs to start doing. We have to record what they say and write and then never let them get away from it.
