Run, Alan, Run!

Everyone is so caught up in the drama of the Clinton vs. Obama battle that they’ve overlooked an important political development: Alan Keyes appears to have locked up the Constitution Party’s nomination for president.

The party has been holding its national convention in Kansas City this week. Many of the delegates slapped on their tin-foil hats and got right over there. Keyes is expected to wrap up the nomination later today. (You can see the schedule here in a pdf doc. I am really sorry I did not go. I missed “Children’s Story Time with Trapper Jim” on Thursday!)

I don’t expect Alan to have any trouble nailing this down. His chief opponent was Don J. Grundmann, a chiropractor and anti-tax activist from California. I can only rejoice that now conservatives have a real choice! Why would any self-respecting right-winger want to vote for that wimp McCain when Keyes is on the ballot?

I really want to see Alan campaign hard, especially in states like Iowa, Missouri, Ohio, Florida, New Mexico and New Hampshire. As you may know, Keyes is one of the great orators of our time, and he’s the genuine item: anti-choice, anti-gay, anti-public programs, anti-public schools, anti-civil liberties, anti-pretty much everything (except guns and Jesus – he’s very pro on those).

I never thought I’d say this, but I mean it sincerely: Give ’em hell, Alan!

Now if he can get Judge Roy Moore on the Ticket with him, he’ll be rocking

  • But don’t you just know that somewhere out there some Republican is out there celebrating the possiblity of Keyes drawing significant numbers of black voters from Obama. And I fully expect that Contessa Brewer is one of them.

    I hope they blow a lot on the party, because in the end Alan ain’t going to get squat.

  • You forgot one thing, that Chuck Baldwin is Keyes’ main opponent and not the crazy chiropractor that you reported. From reports I am reading, roll call is happening right now for the nomination and it appears Baldwin is going to win in a landslide.

  • Mr. Snow said on his inaugural CNN appearance Friday, that Hon. Sen. Obama “stumbled badly” with his loss in PA, but failed to mention that Hon. Sen McCain only managed 76% (or so) of registered Republicans in a race he had sown up two months ago (meanwhile, 6% of Hon. Sen. Clinton’s voters said they wouldn’t vote for her even if she won the nomination). So of course the big story is how Sen. Clinton beat all expectations and got some huge boost.

    Darn. I knew I shouldn’t have trusted the MSM!

  • Keyes is now available for McCain to name as his VP candidate. . . Or, is he saving him for his first Supreme Court nominee?
