I am not particularly surprised that Teresa Heinz Kerry told the editorial page editor of the conservative Pittsburgh Tribune-Review to “Shove it”. I have a low tolerance level for self-serving jerks who try to twist my own words out of context – and I am not a foreign born billionaire.
What does surprise me is that other news agencies consider this important enough to actually spend precious access time questioning an ex-president about it. Really, with the September 11th report released, an ongoing, over budget, war with casualties on the rise, and a political convention starting, is this really worth asking about?
Please do not misunderstand me. I think that it is unfortunate when a public figure cannot handle a twit with civility. To me, not-stooping-to-their-level is always a good sign of personal character. But with major media outlets completely abandoning even a pretense of objectivity and accuracy, these sorts of exchanges are going to be more common. So, note to news agencies, please do not make yourselves even more irrelevant by focusing on them…
