A couple of weeks ago, I noted how Bush relied on David Kay as an ally in proving the necessity of the war in Iraq. It wasn’t a good idea; Kay later concluded that Bush “should have been able to tell before the war that the evidence did not exist for drawing the conclusion that Iraq presented a clear, present, and imminent threat on the basis of existing weapons of mass destruction.”
Last week, the president went 0-for-2.

“I’m so appreciative of the United Nations and Mr. Brahimi’s work. It’s hard work to do what he did. He did a lot of good work and came up with what looks like a very strong government.”
U.N. envoy Lakhdar Brahimi, last week:
“The war in Iraq was useless, it caused more problems than it solved, and it brought in terrorism.”
