Of all the lists of possible ’08 candidates I’ve seen, there hasn’t been much talk about Wisconsin Sen. Russ Feingold (D). That may soon change.
According to a report in WisPolitics.com last week, several party leaders “expect Feingold to do some national traveling and make some preliminary explorations” of the White House idea. They agree he’ll “have a plan and proceed accordingly.”
Indeed, Feingold backers seem to believe that the two-term senator could be particularly strong in Iowa (a nearby Midwestern state) and New Hampshire (which has a penchant for mavericks like Feingold). This would make Feingold one of the few players outside these two states who actually wants to keep the existing primary calendar as it is.
Just another name to add to the mix.
