Housekeeping

As some of you have already noticed, The Carpetbagger Report finally has a comments section. I fully expect those of you who’ve been emailing me, asking why I don’t have this feature, to start adding clever and insightful remarks on a regular basis.

Just to clarify a part of the feature, commenters will find a simple question to answer before posting their remarks. It’s just to help cut down on spammers, bots, etc. It’s not a trick question, just a way to make sure you’re a person.

I’ll try and write up a formal comments policy soon, but in the meantime most of the traditional rules you find on other blogs apply here. I welcome conversation and spirited debate, but I reserve the right to delete comments that exceed normal discourse and veer into threats, personal attacks, identifying undercover CIA agents by name, etc.

Happy commenting. If you run into glitches or technical problems, be sure to let me know.

It is about f***ing time!

(I don’t know what your commenting rules are, but I plan on filling every one of my comments with curse words. Just try and stop me!)

  • Well, I for one am delighted. Most of the more interesting sites get their own corps of commenters, plus (of course) their own set of trolls. If you get to many of the latter, don’t be bashful about deleting them. Most trolls just spout the same nonsense and aren’t worth the time to refute.

  • Steve,
This will be a nice addition to the site. Reasoned discourse is something that is woefully lacking in this day and age, and one of the reasons that I like reading your commentary is the tone of your writing. I hope that you don’t get overwhelmed by hysterical freepers.

  • Finally.

I’ve been reading you for months, and you’re usually right on with your take on events. I look forward to being able to interact with you and some of your readers.

    Keep up the good work.

  • Don’t any of you people have jobs (or any kind of off-line life, for that matter)? Comments are cool, but IME getting sucked into reading them is a major productivity killer…
