Truer words were never spoken

Finally, a quote from the president, by way of Jacob Weisberg, that I truly understand.

“See, in my line of work you got to keep repeating things over and over and over again for the truth to sink in, to kind of catapult the propaganda.” — Bush in Greece, New York, yesterday

What’s the definition of a “Michael Kinsley Moment”? When a politician commits a gaffe by accidentally telling the truth.

Update: As usual, C&L has a clip of the very amusing comment.

That’s the only way chicken george tell the truth, by accident

  • that’s great. unfortunately, he’s so well known for a verbal gaffes that no one will notice (except us).

  • Did Bush perhaps mean that he had to catapult the truth over the propaganda?

Of course, even if he did, he didn’t phrase it correctly.

  • Bush might look a dummy…
    Talk a dummy…
    Strut a dummy…

But he is only about 3/4ths dumb.

He is right in this case.
You repeat and repeat and repeat.

That’s not only the sign of a good teacher,
    But also…
    A better propagandist.

    And…
How totally timely is my post:

    Bush’s Iraq Mess
    Bush’s Iraq Mess
    Bush’s Iraq Mess
    Bush’s Iraq Mess

They are going to hate us for it folks.
    But it’s a good hate.

So repeat this meme after me me me…:

    Bush’s Iraq Mess
    Bush’s Iraq Mess
    Bush’s Iraq Mess

  • This comment by Bush (same speech) caused me to guffaw as well:

“It’s important for this nation to address issues. I believe the job of the President is to confront problems, not to pass them on to future Presidents or future generations. I believe my job in representing everyone who lives in this country is that when I see a problem, is to say to the United States Congress, let’s work together to solve the problem.â€?

  • Ah, Bush’s mighty right-swinging trebuchet spins the cow of disinformation onto the barbecue of truth.

  • Re: “It’s important for this nation to address issues. I believe the job of the President is to confront problems, not to pass them on to future Presidents or future generations. Okay… 5/8ths mean-dumb, 3/8ths delusional, all held together by gluons of rabid christianity.

  • Bush erred in only one word, here. He should have used the word “lie” instead of “truth” and then it really would make sense for him to have said this.
