A week before a court-imposed deadline rolls around, Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore will announce tomorrow whether he will obey or ignore a court order to remove his Ten Commandments monument from the state judicial building.
Moore, apparently under the impression that he has some choice in the matter, will host a press conference at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow afternoon. A statement released by Moore said the event would allow Moore to “publicly announce his response to the federal court order” on the Commandments case.
No one knows, however, what Moore will say. One can only hope that he’ll feign a “high ground” approach and announce that for the good of Alabama, and to avoid additional conflict and division, he’s decided to move his religious display to private property. His supporters could laud Moore for his selflessness.
Then again, he could just as easily announce that he’s ignoring the court order and threaten to keep the monument where it is “by any means necessary.”
I’ll let you know what happens. Should be interesting.
