Election Results

Today is a big Election Day in some parts of the country. If you’re looking for results as they’re available, here are the links you’ll want to reference throughout the evening.

* In Virginia, election results will be available at the state’s official elections page.

* In New Jersey, official results will be available here.

* In New York City’s mayoral race, numbers will be published here.

* California’s several ballot initiatives can be tracked here.

* Ohio’s initiatives, including an interesting one on redistricting, will be tallied here.

* In addition to NYC, voters will also be electing mayors today in several other big cities, including in Detroit, Boston, Houston, Cleveland, Minneapolis, St. Paul, San Diego, and Pittsburgh. Governing.com is monitoring the results of each.

And on a related note, if you’re looking for exit polls, you’re out of luck. There aren’t any this year.

For additional coverage, National Journal’s Hotline is offering detailed coverage this evening.

One-stop-shopping…..I love it. Thanks, CB!

  • Far be it from me to start in with conspiracy theories so early in the night, but is anyone else frequently updating the Virginia results site? Kilgore started out well ahead, then with 5%, Kaine closed to within 0.8%. Suddenly at 7%, Kilgore was up by 20%!

Now with 20% in, Kilgore remains up by 12% – a pretty high number for a significant percent of votes in – yet DEMS are winning both Lt Gov and AG, so it isn’t like a big Repub groundswell.

Something about the math here – and the big jump at the 7%-in mark – just doesn’t add up. (And there have been those reports, see e.g. Political Wire, of paperless machines not accepting Kaine votes. . .)

  • nevermind. Kaine is up now (with 27% in). They must have very, very polarized and sizeable precincts that are coming in one-by-one causing these wild swings.

  • nevermind. Kaine is up now (with 27% in).

zeitgeist, just to warn you, that’s likely to happen a lot for the next hour or so. Don’t panic (or get elated) either way for quite a while.

That said, if you are in a paranoid mood, and want to consider conspiracy theories, there are some reasons for concern…

  • Just a quick note, the Dover County Pensylvania school board had their asses kicked out of office. Cudos to the people of Dover County. 🙂

  • Actually, I think not having exit polls is good myself. In Canada, because of time zones, I think it’s still illegal to report election results from the say the Eastern time zone if you live in the Pacific time zone, if the polls have not closed yet in your time zone. I think the law as to prevent mobilizing a ton of people in the other time zones to shift election results if they were not going they way people wanted. I wouldn’t mind seeing it in the US, but then again, you have that “freedom of the press” thing…
