Tom DeLay, disarmed

We’ve all heard the firearm-enthusiast saying about gun control: “You can have my gun when you pry it from my cold, dead hand.” In Tom DeLay’s case, it may have to be modified to: “You can have my gun now since I’ve been indicted for a felony.”

Apparently, under Texas law, those Texans who’ve been indicted on felony charges are ineligible for a handgun license. The former House Majority Leader, of course, has been charges with several felonies, including money laundering.

The result, in addition to the humiliation, loss of power, and possible jail time, is that DeLay has reportedly lost his gun license in his home state. Raw Story has a copy of the court order affirming the suspension of DeLay’s license.

Raw Story added that DeLay’s attorneys have appealed the order, which will go to a local GOP judge.

It’s been that kind of year for DeLay….

I’d like to see his gun license restored. That way, if he decides to kill himself rather than go to prison, he’ll have something to do it with close by.

  • Maybe Charlton Heston as Moses will come and part the red tape. This was good for a laugh. I guess this rules out future quail hunting adventures with Vice-Shrub, if he dared.

  • Guys, welcome to the way the law works. Us “gun nuts” have to know it, and abide with it.

  • Well, usually you can still archery hunt (maybe Ted Nugent can loan him a bow), or even use a muzzleloader as a felon. I don’t know if Texas law addresses these methods or not. I can see a duel with flintlocks.
