The House GOP agenda: literally a blank page

About a month ago, after the Dems unveiled their domestic [tag]policy[/tag] [tag]agenda[/tag] for 2007, I suggested that Republicans do the same. After all, voters should know about the parties’ legislative priorities for the future before they vote in November, and right now, the [tag]GOP[/tag] appears reluctant to put forward any specific ideas on anything.

Even in the short term, it’s not altogether clear what congressional [tag]Republicans[/tag] want to do with their power. Now there’s proof that the “party of ideas” is directionless.

Mike Gehrke noticed yesterday that House Majority Leader [tag]John Boehner[/tag] (R-Ohio) has created a section on his leadership webpage devoted exclusively to the issues the GOP caucus is committed to working on.

Take a look; it tells us all we need to know about the sad state of the GOP.

i’m stunned that it’s like telling the truth.

  • that’s hysterical. save a copy of that screenshot. it will come in handy.

  • DID the Dems unveil their domestic policy agenda for 2007? If so, it had no measurable effects. Republicans never mention it. Neither does the press. Most importantly: neither do the Democrats. The event, if it ever did occur, appears to be just one of the stream of momentary photo-ops which our TeeVee-addled “culture” thinks of as politics.

  • It’s one of those “lessons-learned” things. Now if you’ll excuse, me, I need to try and remove a big gulp of coffee from my left lung….

  • 1) Well, at least Boehner’s being upfront about Republican plans to whitewash everything.

    2) The last time Boehner outlined some goals, I said, “I’d like nothing better” and now my wish has come true.

  • The robots have received no programming from the central bunker and therefore can take no action.

And they’re not likely to since the only thing on the White House agenda is to hunker down for two more years until they can get the heck out of Dodge and relax on the beaches of their corporate sponsors.

  • If you have drunk the koolaid, there’s stuff written there.

Can’t you see how splendid and fine the Emperor’s new clothes are?

  • So what? This just shows the bold out of the box thinking of the Republican party. Remember its the Democratic Party that lacks ideas.

  • This is completely and utterly awesome. The last link, I mean. I hope all of you commenters are doing your part to utilize the viral medium of the Internet to spread that link to your friends faster than a balls-cheesy summer movie featuring Samuel L. Jackson or… a funny Japanese game show on YouTube.

Bonus points to whoever can guess the former reference. (No cheating with Google or whatever!)
