FBI agent quit ABC project because ‘they were making things up’

And the ABC docudrama hits just keep on coming.

James Bamford, an author and journalist who has written about security issues, appeared on MSNBC to discuss “The Path to 9/11.” Bamford revealed that an FBI agent who worked as a consultant to the film quit halfway through production of the mini-series because he believed the writers and producers were “making things up.”

“It’s made-up. This is fiction. This is not real. One of my friends actually was a consultant to this production — an FBI agent who worked on 9/11. He quit halfway through because he thought they were making things up.”

Given the circumstances, when an FBI official quits because the movie was veering off into fantasy, it probably should have been a clue to ABC that there was a problem.

Speaking of ABC, rumor has it that Bob Iger, Disney’s CEO, is going to make a statement about the controversy fairly soon. I’ll update this post if there’s anything newsworthy. Care to make a guess as to what he might say? I’d be stunned if the network even considered pulling the program after investing tens of millions in it, but a guy can dream….

Update: ABC, as expected, released a statement this afternoon. It’s a bad joke.

People often mistake their opinions for fact, but I think the problem is that they mistake lies for opinions.

  • Even the most stubborn businessman will back down if something hits him in the wallet hard enough. So it might not be too farfetched, CB, if sales of Disney dreck are starting to take a hit.

That’s why Incurious George never changes his mind. He never has to pay for being wrong.

  • I believe ABC is broadcasting this nonsense “commercial free”, which means there are no sponsors to be upset bt any complaints about the program. Therefore, the odds of ABC pulling it at this late date are extremely small (nil?).

  • Saying that it “should have been a clue” to ABC there documentary was innaccurate seems to suggest that this was not a deliberate effort to broadcast propoganda either out of partisanship or in exchange for something from the government. This was not an accident or sloppinness. They deliberately, proactively, willingly, joyfully did this.

  • This is all a publicity stunt to hook more suckers into watching Disney’s corporate propaganda. Walt himself had the good grace (business sense?) to keep his fondness for the John Birch Society pretty much under wraps.

So what if the slobbering yahoots blame Clinton and salivate over the Shrub? They already do.

  • ABC could do what CBS did and air it on a pay channel like Showtime or HBO. These people are bad stewards of the public airways and they should be held accountable. At least the story is not getting burried, but is becomming part of the MSM news.

  • MoveOn should try to buy a block of commercial time immediately before and/or after to run “the truth.” I suggest this knowing full well that the MoveOn ads would be denied, as they always seem to be — but that would only add to the fire and the controversy and help show what is really going on here. Really, an attempted ad buy would be a no-lose for the left (other than spending cash that otherwise could be used in actual candidate races).

  • Isn’t it pitiful that a horrible incident such as 9/11 should happen on a Republican President’s watch, then, typically, blame is shifted to the Clinton administration? Remember, this occurrence happened almost two years later under a Republican Watch. Now, with elections around the corner, the slime, as before, is beginning to flow with a so called documentary?” How many times have we seen this before?–under the Conservative Motto, “We have ours, lets play with yours?” ABC and Disney should be boycotted; we should stay away from their products.
