Tim Ryan, once again, telling it like it is

About a year ago, I heard some buzz that Rep. [tag]Tim Ryan[/tag] (D) was receiving encouragement to run for the Senate in Ohio against Mike DeWine (R) this year. It struck me as a little odd — not only does Ohio have other, higher-profile Dems, but Ryan is also a rookie, having only been elected in 2002.

I’m beginning to understand the enthusiasm.

That’s just today’s comments. As Sam Rosenfeld noted, when when it comes to floor speeches, this guy is really something.

I realize Ryan is hardly the most reliably liberal member of the caucus, but maybe the party should put this guy on TV a little more often?

Um, how long until the DNC can get this edited into a 30 second spot and get it playing on every TV station in America?

  • Here’s what he got that the other guys ain’t got:
    1. Passion.
    2. Volume.
    3. Big, clanging, cast-iron balls.

I’d like to lock the Faux Snooze folks in a room with Mr. Ryan & Mr. Clinton. We could scrape what ever was left off the walls and shove under the nearest rock.

  • He is the alpha male DEM we need out front on issues in order to shed the “mommy party” moniker that DEMS have been saddled with…

    GO Ryan GO!!!!!

Of course I am sure Al From and the other DLC DEMS will castrate him if he gets too vocal………

  • I’ve been an admirer of Mr. Ryan (and Ms. Wasserman Schultz and Mr. Meek) for a while – ever since I stumbled across the 30somethingdems on CSPAN. They all tell it like it is, esp. Mr. Ryan.

  • Godshamgod over at freakflagfly.blogspot.com has been hammering the “less safe” theme for two years now. It’s so much stronger than Kerry’s ’04 mealy-mouthed “we’re not as safe as we should be.” It has the added advantages of being true and speaking to people’s deeply felt, if unspoken, intuitions. Great to see Dems picking up the phrase at the right time.
