Tech troubles

First my connection died, then my router. Then I go to the local wi-fi-enabled coffee shop, and its connection dies.

I think I have a decent signal, for now, so long-winded tirades are on the way….

Update: In a truly comical turn of events, shortly after I posted this, the connection at the coffee shop died again. It just hasn’t been my day.

This brilliantly directed ad is now doing the rounds in Ohio…

  • Great ad by Sherrod Brown. Personally I would have liked to hear a few words from Brown himself at the end but that’s just a small kvetch.

“Dies”? Perhaps it was killed. What exactly were you doing in that coffee shop?

It would be wrong not to speculate.

    It’s Karl Rove’s October Surprise….

  • don’t get me started on routers. my piecashit Linksys totally died last month (after making it appear that something was wrong w/my Mac’s Airport wireless). then i got a Netgear DG834 and so far so good (and my Airport’s fine).

    good luck w/this, CB.

  • Linksys routers overheat with any type of load and stops responding.

Best SOHO/home router I’ve found is the D-Link DGL 4300. It also has the advantage of being the second highest performing router of its type (high throughput). It is a four port wired (10/100/1000) and WPA wireless 802.11g.

    Highly recommended

In Polish, it’s known as “the malice of inanimate objects” and quite a common occurence. Do you not have it in America?
