Congratulations, Sens. Casey, Brown, and Menendez

NBC, ABC, and CBS have called three key Senate races:

In Pennsylvania, Bob Casey (D) will defeat Sen. Rick Santorum (R).

In Ohio, Sherrod Brown (D) will defeat Sen. Mike DeWine (R).

And in New Jersey, Sen. Bob Mendendez (D) will stave off Tom Kean, Jr. (R).

CNN, meanwhile, is calling Massachusetts’ gubernatorial race for Deval Patrick (D), making him the first African-American governor in state history, and only the second in U.S. history.

Virginia’s Webb/Allen race is still too close to call.

Yay?

Too early?

  • I second doubtful’s Yay?
I’ve got the tin foil hat stapled to my head and its telling me this is all a cruel plot to raise Democratic hopes and then when the final results come in, we fling ourselves…on to international flights outta here.

  • Maybe it’s too early to cheer for the big picture, but let’s hear it for Katherine Harris in Florida – she’s toast!

  • As a native of western Pennsylvania, I would like to say, in the regional dialect: “Younz voters need congratulated for getting rid of that bad sentator. Go enjoy a hoagie.”

  • Too early …

Things are looking grim in the Show-Me State, but it’s early.

On the other hand, bye-bye Man-on-Dog Santorum.

  • Yeah, it’s early, but so far, things are looking good in the Senate races — which is what I care about most. I’m optimistic enough to celebrate the Democrats cleaning house in the House.

  • Thank-you Morbo from a fellow former Western PA-er and current Central PA-er. I can’t tell you how happy I am the Rick is on his way out. Now let’s see what the rest of the country can do.

    I’ll drink to that!

Look, she was already crying when she went to vote: http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20061108/pl_nm/usa_elections_harris_dc_1

“Why oh why didn’t I stick to chads?”

However, I reiterate my warning to Floridians:

Watch out! Crayzee Mascara Laydee will be out for blood. Stay in your homes until Animal Control gets her to the Zoo for Toxic Political Hacks. Employees at Starbucks around Florida should be ready to shoot to kill.

    ——————-Orange + 17

Fine. Run away. I’m staying right here. I’ll be loading voting machines into the breech of a howitzer at dawn—and firing point-blank at Diebold’s HQ if that happens!!!

Beside that—it looks really bizarre, but Lamont seems to be holding his own in Connecticut. Early returns gives him 47% to Joe Lie’s 44%, with Schlesinger breaking his projected 5% benchmark. One can only hope….

  • I know it’s a time for (early?) celebration, but what the Democratic leadership did to Ned Lamont really pisses me off. These are the same fearless leaders we’re expecting to take on Bush and they wouldn’t even fight against Liebermann.

  • Fine. Run away.

Oh yeah? When I come back with the Mounties you’ll be jealous. Bids on Denny’s Hastert’s ears start at $500. All proceeds will go to the Republicon Sterilization Foundation.

However, if the Dems do take the either House you might want to get your Howitzer over to the Capitol. My other tin foil hat is telling me ShrubCo will do something drastic if the Dems squash his pet Congress.

Rocks, officer? Oh, these rocks. They’re for a rock garden. Really. I wasn’t going to throw them or anything.

  • Bring the Mounties, ‘Orange—chase Bush and Cheney into the Potomac, and we’ll have a President Pelosi.

*visions of reich-wing bloggers choking, as they read this “not-so-subtle suggestion….”
