We won’t have Rumsfeld to kick around anymore

Maybe the old saying is right, elections do have consequences.

Defense Secretary Donald H. [tag]Rumsfeld[/tag], a key target of Iraq war critics, is stepping down, Republican officials said on Wednesday.

Former CIA Director Robert [tag]Gates[/tag] will replace him, Republican officials said.

Earlier today, a spokesman for Rumsfeld said he’d given no indication that he would step down in the wake of Democratic election gains. The spokesman said Rumsfeld would work with Congress on Iraq but added that the focus on stabilizing the country will remain the same.

This announcement comes just a week after the president said publicly Rumsfeld would stay on through 2008.

It just goes to show that Democrats in Washington are already improving the government, and it’s not even January yet.

The second best part: All of the articles this AM saying Rumsfeld wouldn’t go just because the Democrats had done so well. Then Tester took Montana.
Less than 10 minutes later: Rumsfeld resigns.

Can you say “Rout” boys and girls? Can you hum a few bars of “Before they make me run”?

The best part: Cheney is exposed (ok, that sounds disgusting, try again). Cheney has lost his Human Shield and if he has to serve as tie breaker in the Senate people will see a lot of him and react accordingly (vomit), further harming the Republicons who remain faithful to Cheney’s puppet.

The fact that Shrubya wants to replace Rumsfilled with another person who lacks combat experience shows that he still doesn’t have a clue.

Sure…given that Rummie submitted his resignation, and had it accepted by Bonzo, on Monday….

  • America your work is’nt done you still Have Cheney , Rove and the dick head to get rid of.Thank goodness America is regaining it’s sanity.

  • I think TAWO makes a good point about Cheney. After all, when Boy George II lied to the reporters last week he said that both Rumsfeld and Cheney would see out the remainder of his term. A strange conflation when he already knew that he would likely sack Rumsfeld, having found Robert Gates for the SoD.

Does he have a replacement for Cheney in mind?

After all, there is a very serious reason to dump the Dickster Cyborg. How far back do you have to go in the history of presidential elections before you get to the point where there was not a sitting president or vice president running? Quite a while. Having a Republican’t in office as Vice President before 2008 would provide the party with a huge advantage.

But it would undercut every other possible candidate 😉

The thing is, Boy George II and Karl Rove are just such un-democratic bastards that they would rather pick the next Republican’t nominee for president (as best they can) rather than leave it up to the primary voters of the Republican’t party (or as JRS would have it, all the voters allowed to cross party lines to vote in the primaries because he doesn’t believe in primaries).

I’m sure Boy George II looks at the Cyborg at every Cabinet meeting and wonders why he doesn’t throw the guy off the bus.

And yes, Cheney holds a constitutional office. But take away all the “extra” executive powers heaped on the Office of the VicePresident and watch him quit in nothing flat (especially if you start a rumour about investigating Haliberton 😉 ).
