A better alternative to Sunday morning talking-heads

Many of you have asked, in recent months, what EvolveTV is. A long-time Carpetbagger advertiser, EvolveTV has been something of a mystery to blog readers everywhere — clicking on the ad, for example, would take you to a homepage that only teased what the project was all about.

Not anymore. This week, EvolveTV offers it’s first ever broadcast and pulls back the curtain on what this is all about. Markos Moulitsas (you know, Kos) and Duncan Black (you know, Atrios) are hosts of an interview show that seeks to do what the Sunday-morning shows don’t — offer substantive, informative interviews on important political subjects that actually tells views things they need to know, not just recycled recycled talking points.

This week, for example, Markos sits down with Juan Cole for what I hear will be an excellent discussion on the war in Iraq. I think you’ll all enjoy it, so be sure to check it out.

I’m a big fan of yours and this blogs, but the idea of Kos and Atrios hosting a TV show makes me want to puke. And the idea that they can have a substantive discussion about Iraq without spending the majority of it gloating about how the ‘knew’ Bush was lying, or attacking Dems for not having balls, is not credible.

Kerry, a liberal’s liberal, had to take unending shit from those two during the entire election. Now they won’t mention him when he rips Bush in a speech (as he just did), or comes out against Roberts (as he just did), but they’re still more than willing to pile on against him or any other Dem who doesn’t toe the anti-war progressive-party line.

Fuck both of them. They’re as antithetical to good debate as anyone on the right.

  • Oy – in all seriousness, give the footage a chance. Bush is only mentioned once in the first episode and not at all in our discussion of evolution. The Dems not at all.

    Plus, Myers and Cole are amongst the most interesting people I’ve ever met.

    I’m trying to get moderates elected, as opposed to running far-left hair-brained anti-national-security candidates that the middle of the electorate will never support. So go Trippi yourself.

    Atrios and Kos are not objective. They’re also not Democrats. What they are is the literal left-wing equivalent of neoconservatives, and I think they’d be the first ones to tell you that.

    Kos is a veteran. He’s also a hawk. And a gun owner, and pro-NRA. Dunno about Atrios.

    None of the big “liberal” bloggers are wacky lefty crunchy-granola chanting-with-the-spirits types. They’re young, aggressive, capitalist, tech-savvy, and almost Libertarians in a lot of ways.

    Sorry, no troll. I know that’s the immediate response people like you have to anyone who is interested in straddling the great divide in this country, but it’s a candy-ass response to dealing with issues you don’t want to deal with.

    Kos may be all the things you say, but he’s also a stupid person. He can raise a ruckus, but if you follow his arguments they’re usually weak. I agree that he and most of the other lefties are Libertarians, which is one of the reasons I think they suck so bad. There are only two parties in this country, which means you’re either buidling one of them up or tearing it down. Kos, Atrios and the majority of the left are not Democrats, and will not reach out to centrists in order to form a winning Dem coalition. They would rather splinter the Democrats on principle than win in order to be able to govern, and for that they are to be despised.

    Finally, if you need a hero, don’t pick Kos. He may be a veteran, but so was Lee Harvey Oswald. Kos is a loudmouth pussy who did more to teach the Republicans how to ‘swift-boat’ Kerry in ’04 than anyone short of Joe Trippi. Watch your back.

  • I don’t assume that Oy is a troll at all. Markos has been a very polarizing person.

    But let’s not presume he could teach the Cheney Administration any lessons.
