Blair believes Bush ‘let him down badly’

I think it’s probably safe to say that the once-unwavering relationship between the Bush administration and [tag]Tony Blair[/tag]’s administration in Great Britain is not quite as strong as once was. Last week, British Deputy Prime Minister [tag]John Prescott[/tag] reportedly lost his patience and vented his personal beliefs about the Bush presidency, “summing up George Bush’s administration in a single word: ‘[tag]crap[/tag].'”

Making matters slightly worse, Blair himself seems to be fed up. (thanks to Rege for the tip)

The alliance between George [tag]Bush[/tag] and Tony Blair is in danger after it was revealed that the Prime Minister believes the President has ‘let him down badly’ over the Middle East crisis.

A senior Downing Street source said that, privately, Mr Blair broadly agrees with John Prescott, who said Mr Bush’s record on the issue was ‘crap’.

The source said: “We all feel badly let down by Bush. We thought we had persuaded him to take the Israel-Palestine situation seriously, but we were wrong. How can anyone have faith in a man of such low [tag]intellect[/tag]?”

If I had a nickel for every time I’ve asked myself that one….

Poor Tony. On his way out and his total legacy in ruins because of the faux-lection of Boy George II in 2000.

But believe me Tony, Boy George II’s legacy is going to be considered much worse than yours. Take comfort in that.

Though I have to agree with Prescott’s summation of the Bushites and all their works.

  • Ditto “Poor Tony.”

He needs to get together and pray with his Georgie-Poo.

Afterwards they can look deep into each other’s eyes and find each other’s souls.

In other words: I have FAITH the rift between these two bright lights of Western Civilization is utterly repairable.

Lap dogs don’t care if their owners are stupid.
But sometimes they need to be stroked a little more often.

  • It’s hard to believe that Bush let Blair down badly. Bush is extremely good at letting people down.

  • You know, anyone who can go from being considered a Clinton Clone to being Bush’s Biotch as fast as Blair did surely let his own consitutents down pretty badly, too. Hard to muster a lot of sympathy.

  • Having been let down so badly, one wonders why Blair still allowed Bush to pressure him into busting those clowns when they knew they had nothing solid to go after them with.

    Force of habit, I guess.

  • I don’t feel a bit sorry for “Yo, Blair”. He has much more sophistication than the Regal Moron — the Parliamentary system demands that — but he’s just as slimey as Bush. And, unlike the Shrub, he’s headed for Pappy’s Carlisle boardroom once this gig is done.

  • So the Downing Street memos weren’t a big enough portent of the knucklehead president you were selling your soul too Tony?. I swear that English accent always makes people seem smarter than they are.

  • As far as expectations, Blair has let me down much more than Bush. Bush was an obvious dumbass from the beginning. But, a few years ago (pre-Iraq) I happened to catch a session of Parliament on television in which Blair engaged in a free-form manner the members of Parliament pro and con. The rapid political repartee impressed me so much. The discourse was quick and vital and Blair gave as good as he got. I thought, geez I could never imagine Bush in that situation. He would have just stood there stuttering. (Clinton might have survived such a session.)

But I guess Bush’s, dare I say it, tarbaby of temptation, was too much for Blair to resist. Too bad.

  • Blair had 1,000 instances where he could have realized Bush was not to be trusted, so on the 1,001st time, he comes around? I just don’t get it. I’m all for giving people the benefit of the doubt, but when things start to smell bad, I tend to back away and reconsider how close I want to be.

  • Well, Tony, since “you’re either with him or against him” you better bunker up and get ready to use some of those fancy munitions.

Reminds me of when Hitler and Stalin finally started fighting after carving up Poland.

    True enough.

But things are really starting to implode on this mal-administration.

The republican train wreck has begun…
    The collision is gathering apace…

People are starting to slide the pitchers of kool-aid to the other side of the table. You know… the side of the table where Cheney and Lieberman sit, before the whole thing goes KABLOOEY.

I am sure you’ve seen and felt the temperature change too:

Our culture has gone from the K-street “manufacturing of assent” to being on the cusp of the “merchandising of dissent.”

    Being anti-Bush is now hip.
Cutting a anti-war song is suddenly mass marketable…

“The Emperor has no clothes” has gone from whispers to shouts.

Take altogether, the signs can’t help but be read:
    Bush is officially defunct.
He has no place to go but down…

But unlike the fable… Bush won’t be able to finish his naked procession with his head held high.

Bush is going to get shredded unlike any President before him…

Before this is over, he is going to ripped apart unlike no other.

  • Blair’s going to say and do whatever it takes to keep his job for just a little while longer. The problem is, Britain isn’t America—and the British press will rip the man into quivering shreds faster than you can say “buggar.” Personally, I don’t give the man another 6 months in office before his own party tears him down—and the next British PM will be very much an anti-Bush individual.

Let’s see—Herr Bush has isolated the US from South America, Central America, a really big chunk of Asia, Australia, now most of Europe—and I’m not sure that the penguins will support Herr Bush (lloks far too much like a leopard seal), so there goes Antarctica. He and his minions have railed incessantly against both Mexico and Canada, blabbering something about “the need to secure the borders.” He’s overtly trying to reduce the number of states in the Union (beginning with the isolation of Connecticut), the intelligence of the population (NCLB), the health of the population (that ridiculous Medicare plan-whatever-thingie, school lunch programs), and even the population itself (Iraq).

In the end, Blair learns the painfukl lesson—you play Quisling, you suffer a Quisling’s fate….

  • ***edit—that should be “looks” instead of lloks—and “painful” instead of painfukl (although the second mis-spell does lend to what Mr. Blair is about to get from the British press—:

  • All this is great. But the real question is, What’s Blair’s take on the apprehension of JonBenet’s killer?

  • So, does this mean you won’t see those “Thank Tony Blair” sidebars on the wingnut websites anymore?

    Oh, Bugger an’ bloody ‘ell!!!

  • ***So, does this mean you won’t see those “Thank Tony Blair” sidebars on the wingnut websites anymore?***

The wingnuts will start a “Blame Blair” campaign. Fred Phelps will lead the way with his all-new “Tony Blair is going to hell!” link….
