Bush speaks to Plame Game investigators

Just saw this on the wires.

President Bush was interviewed by government prosecutors Thursday in connection with the federal investigation of who leaked the name of an undercover CIA operative to the news media.

The president was questioned for 70 minutes in the Oval Office by U.S. Attorney Patrick J. Fitzgerald, who is heading the Justice Department investigation.

I’m sure there’ll be more about this later, but does anyone know when the last time a sitting president had to speak to federal investigators as part of a White House criminal investigation? Shouldn’t this be a blockbuster story?

When Clinton gave Starr testimony, the media hyperventilated and every outlet on earth showed the video. Will Bush’s talk with investigators today, which deals with a far more important matter, receive a fraction of the attention? I’m not counting on it.

Where are my banner headlines? My special “breaking news” alerts? My 24-7 coverage of a White House “consumed” by scandal?

Sigh.
