Forget about that Dean-Gephardt ticket in 2004.
The AP reported today that “an angry confrontation” took place in Iowa yesterday between Dean and Gephardt staffers, leading a Dean staffer to be escorted from the permises.
Apparently, Gephardt was giving a speech at a senior center in Des Moines. A Dean staffer went to the event, for reasons that are unclear, and got into an “altercation.”
Both sides are naturally blaming the other.
Dean campaign manager Joe Trippi has asked the Gephardt campaign to fire the staff member responsible for the incident. Erik Smith, spokesman for the Gephardt campaign, responded that Dean’s staffer was “belligerent and we escorted him out.” Smith also accused the Dean camp of relying on political dirty tricks.
Don’t forget, it’s only October. I shudder to think how these guys will be acting in January.
