Clarence Thomas thinks Bush is in ‘real trouble’

Apparently, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas keeps up with political news.

Just how bad are things for President Bush?

Pretty bad, I’d say, if even [tag]Clarence Thomas[/tag] is worried about him.

The other night at a Washington book party for the President’s [tag]sister[/tag], [tag]Doro[/tag] [tag]Bush[/tag] [tag]Koch[/tag], the Supreme Court justice arrived with his wife, Ginny, on the tented roof of the Hay Adams Hotel, overlooking the [tag]White House[/tag], and made a beeline for the author.

“We have to pray for your brother. He’s in real trouble,” Thomas told a wide-eyed Koch, whose older brother is, indeed, suffering from near-catastrophic public-opinion ratings.

Sure, it was probably just an off-hand comment over cocktails, but given [tag]Lloyd Grove[/tag]’s description, it sounded like Clarence Thomas really is concerned about the president’s political well-being. So much so, that he made a “beeline ” for Bush’s sister so he could mention how they should [tag]pray[/tag] for the [tag]president[/tag].

How touching.

And if Bush has lost Clarence Thomas…..well, nobody really cares because he’s, like, Clarence Thomas. But still, it can’t be a good sign. 😉

  • And the rest of us need to pray (if that’s your incination) for the rest of our country.
God help us, please, we really need help because Dubya’s the president, Clarence Thomas sits on the Supreme Court, and 30% of the country is in some type of Regal Moron-loving cult.

  • “We have to pray for your brother”?!? Shades of Scalia going hunting with the VP.

Though I’m a non-believer, when a member of the Supremes wants to invoke a supreme deity on behalf of a sister of the honoree at a book party (she, apparently, can read), sounds as though we’d better start praying for the Republic. No matter how much book-larnin’ I’ve had with regard to the Constitution and history of Republic, I’m still shocked at how much the Bush Crime Family regards itself as just that – an extended family or social club. There certainly is no separation of powers, or separation of church and state, there.

  • Wait a minute. He could have been referring to Neil (always in trouble) or Jeb (should always be in trouble). Let’s not give Clarence any credit for noticing Dear Leader’s precarious position. He’s still loved. It’s just people a little upset about how the war’s going…

  • Shouldn’t they be praying for us? We’re the ones who’ll be left cleaning up his mess while they retire into their lavish government contracting jobs with KBR and do the post-pardon speaking tours.

  • I am really curious how often Clarence Thomas, a member of Opus Dei, prays for the country as opposed for praying for Boy George II.

And I’m curious just what Thomas wants God to give Boy George II. Better poll numbers? A better economy? Better news out of Iraq?

If he wants brains for Boy George II, I’d suggest trying the Wizard of Oz 😉 because frankly, that is what he really needs.

  • I didn’t realize that Bush’s sister is married into the Koch family. It really is a small world among the conservative elites!

  • Re: #8

When I read the post I was thinking the same thing!

I had to look it up to be sure it was indeed the same family. Wikipedia says she married Robert C. Koch, who is a member of the Koch family, but also a Democrat who worked for Dick Gephardt. Black sheep? (Or would that be white sheep in a family of black sheep?)

  • Oops. Robert P. Koch.

Robert (or Bobby?) also worked for Tony Coelho, and is President and CEO of the Wine Institute, a lobbying organization for California wineries. Their mission is “to initiate state, federal, and international public policy to enhance the environment for the responsible consumption and enjoyment of wine.” Sounds fairly middle-left to me.

  • As some others observed, why is everything looked at from Bush’s perspective, as if were a great American icon going through some rough times, and had the entire nation wringing its
hands and pulling for him, praying for him? The guy’s given us the worst government in American history, and its the PEOPLE who are suffering and need the prayers and thoughts to get through this horrible period. We are the victims, not this bastard.
He’s the perpetrator of this awful betrayal of our country.
