DeLay’s still pushing his ‘Coalition for a Conservative Majority’

Disgraced former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay has been making noises for a couple of years now about creating his own MoveOn.org-for-the-right activist group, which presumably would offer him a vehicle for, well, whatever it is DeLay does. Last November, he made it official, launching the “Coalition for a Conservative Majority.”

Since then, the group has had a real impact by … well, there was the one time it …. the CCM certainly made a splash when the group …. OK, no one’s heard a word from DeLay’s outfit since it started begging for cash last year. But Bob Novak reported today that DeLay is still out there, pushing his little group, and imploring right-wing activists to send him a check.

Former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay has resurfaced, appealing for contributions to the Coalition for a Conservative Majority, which lists him as chairman and founder. DeLay suggested that this be enclosed with any contribution: ”I am thrilled to learn that you have gotten back in the fight against the left by forming” the new organization.

DeLay, who has endorsed John McCain after expressing misgivings, takes positions to the right of the Republican presidential candidate in his fund-raising appeal. DeLay asks: ”Are you concerned by the growing evidence that there are powerful forces inside our government and out who are quietly moving to have America absorbed into a globalist style ‘North American Union’ with Canada and Mexico?”

Yes, this is what DeLay has been reduced to. The former House Majority Leader wants people to believe — as Tom Tancredo, Lou Dobbs, and Ron Paul fear — that U.S. borders will be dissolved and we’ll have one big continental country. But if unhinged conservatives send the former exterminator a check, DeLay will step up to take on the “powerful forces inside our government.”

I know there are going to be some people who actually run for their checkbook after getting DeLay’s letter, but I just can’t imagine what they’re thinking.

i have to say i find the “dissolving borders” bit mildly amusing. if we take a country by force, “dissolving” borders and doing as we please but involving big explosions, blood and lots of dead people (including our own) the Republicans love it.

if we essentially take over Mexico and Canada by economic force, no bloodshed required, that is cause for gnashing of teeth and cries of alarm and despair.

let me see if i have the rules right (or is that the Right’s Rules?): imperialism is only a good thing if it serves as an excuse for us to break shit?

  • After 9/11, I remember reading a very moving piece from a Canadian saying, basically, there are no borders between the US & Canada now, we stand with our cousins to the south, and so on & so on. It was a really remarkable & moving thing to read.

I’m guessing this isn’t quite the “threat” DeLay is referring to…

  • Still snorting the insecticide, eh Tommy?

I know there are going to be some people who actually run for their checkbook after getting DeLay’s letter, but I just can’t imagine what they’re thinking.

    I’ll tell ya:

ZOMG! MY LIFE WILL BE SO MUCH BETTER IF TOM PISSES ON THE FURRINERS FOR ME!

O wait, my bank account is already overdrawn because Tom’s buddies outsourced my job.

NEVER MIND! THIS IS ABOUT PISSING ON THE FURRINERS!!

Or maybe they don’t think at all.

  • I’m pretty sure that most of my fellow Canadians aren’t really interested in joining a North American Union and I’m guessing most Mexicans aren’t either. All you need to do is throw in mentions of Black Helicopters, ATF agents, the ZOG and the UN using maps on the back of sugar coated cereal boxes to turn this into 90s era political spam.

I can’t help keep thinking Tom DeLay is a human cockroach.

  • Aren’t we still waiting to hear if Delay is going to go to jail? Whatever hapened to the case(s) pending against him, anyway? Will he carry this nonsense on from his cell? Will they allow him to blog from his minimum security facility? Delay … not just a name, but a life principle.

  • There’s a thematic overlap between this post and your Faux News at a standstill post below, Mr. CB.

I will also include in this unholy synergy your opening paragraph from the McCain post previous to this one:

“It’s striking the extent to which John McCain’s campaign is premised on the deep, unyielding hope that voters aren’t paying attention to the campaign at all. It very well might work, but it’s kind of annoying to think the man who wants to lead the nation thinks we’re all a bunch of ignorant dolts.”

Every bit of success each one of these bad actors has in common has come from the bald faced catapulting of B.S. and the bullying and wooing of the ignorant dolts. It’s the foundation of RepubCo’s entire philosophy. Steal what can be stolen from every possible source. Leave disaster and ruination in their wake. And do what they can to make it look like it was what the ignorant dolts wanted all along and if they didn’t then they sure should have said something a little earlier because they’re sure not giving anything back.

Faux, Delay and McCain have pissed directly in the faces of their most fervent supporters and it’s taken this long for any comprehension of that to arrive and even so the pissed on are having a very hard time facing reality and would rather not if there was some way they could make being pissed on a good thing.

Maybe that where CNN and MSNBC come in.

I would hesitate to say that the ignorant dolts and their masters are having a real falling out. They’re having communications issues right now though and they are going to have to work on that.

  • Somebody help me out here: Isn’t Delay supposed to be going on trial SOON and then to the slammer? Or did I miss something about Texas justice?

  • Wait—I thought that CCM was a front for DeLay’s international flight to avoid prosecution slush fund!

My hopeful theory is that the US Attorney in question intends to run the clock out on the Bush admin before putting this creep on trial (hoping that Obama wins becaus McCain would just pardon the bastard, too) so that he won’t be able to get a presidential pardon.

Actually, if Dick Cheney gave him a mean enough look on his way out the door, Obama probably would pardon him, too.

  • The CCM seems to be a tad behind the times. The front page of their website states that the goal of the nefarious libruls is to get Hillary Clinton elected president in ’08. Somebody needs to pony up so they can at least update the site more than once a quarter, but it won’t be me.

  • This has little to do with Tom DeLay and CCM, but it has a lot to do with relationships with our neighbors. I think relations between the US and Canada and Mexico will change considerably once global warming hits harder. If we have the severe drought predicted for the great plains and SW and Canada’s open spaces become more hospitable to agriculture, predictions are that the US will cast a covetous gaze on their food-producing regions. At the same time, if Mexico receives an influx of Central American refugees and feels pressure to expand northward, are we going to welcome them? Policy planning is not just about what is happening this year. It needs to look ahead. I think a North American Union (similar to the EU) would mean less conflict and smoother coordination of the readjustments necessary to keep feeding the continent (and other parts of the world experiencing famine). These climate changes are projected for the next 20 years, not 200 years from now. Once people become more conscious of them, I expect we will start thinking about these issues much differently.

  • Yep – just what you need. Relocate the Greater USA capital to Ottawa and we’ll take it from there. You need a lesson on sanity

  • Hey! Wacky Liberal! You will never hear anything of those charges and Delay will never go to jail because they were trumped up by a County DA in Texas, a vindictive Democrat. As soon as he retires, the charges will be dropped. Sorry!

BTW, Helena Montana, no Federal US attorney has charged Delay with anything. Nor will they ever. You know why? No evidence of wrongdoing. Sorry again!

  • From The President’s Desk – MissionAccomplishment ” # I’ve Lost Count ” The Democrat Majority has been SandBagged again As Usual for the last time of My Presidency and the GOP. Minority Leader Mitch McConnell & I not only have enjoyed it, but will continue to have the last laugh til Jan 19 2009. A record flood of Executive Orders will be signed to stymie the xtremist leftist kooks so that our GOP constituates will have the neccessary leverage to sandbagg the Geechee controlled congress for some time. As for FOX NEWS for the last 85 weeks at #1 who cares if the Keith O Show is #1 a couple times a decade so what! Since the death of Tim Russert it our intention to do what we did to CNN CBS Air America. To Destroy the credibility of PMSnbc (not that it had any) So so long and Good Luck Geechee’s…..

  • How is the “Coalition for a Conservative Majority.” suppsed to be anything like Move on. It has no facts or truths to support it’s fear mongering.

The exterminator just knows he can make more money as chairman of such a group than he could doing his former job exterminating bugs.

It is only through fear mongering that people like DeLay ever got elected to begin with. They have never achieved anything in the way of the public good.

He’s still supporting Hagee too hoping to tap into the Christian fanatic’s donor money as well.

  • The only folks pushing for “dissolving” the borders between the US, Canada and Mexico are the big business interests who want more so-called “free trade” among the countries. No one else is interested – the Canadians don’t want to put up with our idiotic crap, and the Mexicans are starting to get pissed off that our citizens near the border are driving down to Mexico and stealing their government subsidized low-cost gasoline.

That’s what we do in the US. We bitch and moan about socialism until we need cheap medicine or cheap fuel. Then we run to the nearest socialist country we can find and feed like little piggies at the trough on the largesse of their taxpayers and their government. I’m surprised that Canada and Mexico aren’t the ones who are trying to build the damn fences to keep their bad neighbor out at this point…

  • Talk about having your cake and eating it too.

Conservatives fight illegal immigration crackdowns to keep flowing the cheap labor that can’t unionize, vote, or sue:

    http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/06/us/06employer.html?_r=1&adxnnl=1&oref=login&partner=rssnyt&emc=rss&adxnnlx=1215358465-AO54Hg5cXz2untxaEjO2aQ&pagewanted=print

then they publicly decry porous borders that “let the terrorists through”. (As we’re all well aware, it was Mexicans aboard the 911 airliners.)
I suppose 2006 was evidence that the American people have lost their taste for caca, but the mind boggles all the same.
